New Password Requirements for EMS Registry

New Password Requirements Coming

This will be implemented for the new EMS Registry System.  Any logon you have for the commonwealth SharePoint will change to this standard in January as indicated below.

–Minimum length to increase from 8 to 12 characters

Beginning in January, as existing passwords expire or are reset or changed, new passwords that are created will be required to meet the new 12-character minimum. You may continue to use your existing password in the meantime.

Remember, your password must also use three of the following: upper-case letters, lower-case letters, numbers and symbols.

One way to create longer passwords that are hard to guess, but easy to remember, is by using a pass phrase.

For example:

  1. Start with a sentence with meaning to you, such as:
I went on vacation to Jamaica in 2015 and the beach was beautiful.
  1. Use the first letter of each word:
    “iwovtji2015atbwb”
  1. Add mix of upper-case letters, numbers and symbols for complexity
